Dr. Michael G. Castillo is a licensed psychologist and co-owner of Alamo Mental Health Group. He has been in private practice in San Antonio for more than 25 years. He works with adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families in his practice. His areas of interest include working with individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders, as well as assisting individuals in overcoming fears and phobias. Managing behavioral problems and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders in children and adolescents are also areas of interest for Dr. Castillo. In addition, he works with individuals in resolving grief and loss issues, improving couples and marital relationships, enhancing family relationships and communication, and managing life stresses. In addition to psychotherapy, Dr. Castillo provides a full complement of psychological testing and evaluations. He performs psychological and personality assessments, neuropsychological screenings, intellectual and academic testing, pre-bariatric evaluations, and ADHD assessments. His treatment approach is eclectic, encompassing portions of cognitive therapy and systems theoretical approaches. Therapy is generally solution focused and tailored to the individual needs of his clients.

Dr. Castillo received his Ph.D. from the University of North Texas, and his Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University. He completed his clinical psychology residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Prior to entering private practice in 1991, he served in the United States Air Force as a Clinical Psychologist for the Mental Health Clinic at the AFSC Regional Hospital at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. He also worked as a Staff Counselor at the University of North Texas, where he provided assessment and psychotherapy services to university students, faculty and staff. He has presented a variety of seminars and workshops on topics such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders, Effective Parenting, Couples Communication, Intimacy and Sex in Relationships, Stress Management; Grief and Loss; and Memory Loss in the Aged. He previously lectured as an adjunct instructor to the Family Practice Residency program at the AFSC Regional Hospital on Eglin Air Force Base inFlorida. In his practice, Dr. Castillo is empathetic, respectful, and enjoys working with people to bring about positive change in their lives and/or situations. When not devoting time to his practice, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis and jogging.
